So far...

Hey everyone!
Captain Midnight here...
For anyone that has known me through this pregnancy knows that I have NOT been able to sleep from the beginning.
All of you crazy people that enjoy pregnancy are not human. I'm convinced.
So since I'm up anyways (1:40am bright eyed and bushy tailed! New record! #notarecordIwanttokeep #sotired) - I thought I would update this little blog since we have been really bad about it since we got here
(and I already laid in bed for an hour trying to go back to sleep, took a shower, folded laundry and cleaned up the kitchen...guys I'm super productive between 2-5am/I will probably slash the next person that says this is just preparing me for baby...not.helpful.or.encouraging)!

So sorry about the lack of posts guys! Here's what's going on!

A few highlights:

We have gotten pretty settled in our apartment and we really enjoy the neighborhood (and I am 7 minutes door to door from the hospital which.is.fabulous)

We found a way to pay a second mortgage  day care for baby that had an open infant spot! Praise the Lord!

I started my new job 2 weeks ago and am loving it!
The unit is fabulous, everyone has been so kind and welcoming, their existing team is very strong and I really feel like I'm already finding a good rhythm. So grateful.

And they have food trucks every Wednesday... manna from heaven/gonna get dangerous real fast!

We are experiencing the fun/craziness that is springtime in the Rockies to include our first snow day!
I We probably had too much fun/got a little too excited for our first day of snow! We were so impressed by how the city kept everything super clear and how easy it was for us to get around! We had no troubles at all! Definitely encouraging for these two little transplants in our two wheel drive vehicles!

That being said - man are we glad that Texas definitely prepared us for wild weather swings!
We have had everything from snow to rain to bright 75 degree sunny dry days! Definitely keeps us on our toes!
That being said, big thoughts and prayers go out to our Houston friends and family dealing with the crazy rain and flooding these last two weeks! We are keeping you close to our hearts!
Stay safe and dry friends!

Alex continues on the job hunt! Thanks for all who have extended thoughts, prayers, support and connections here in Denver! Keep 'em coming!
In the meantime he is definitely enjoying Denver!
He has found some great cycling buddies/groups already and gone on some very cool rides (Denver is by far the most bike friendly greatest place to ride we have encountered yet!)...

... he has gotten to explore Denver and taken the 4Runner on some two wheel drive adventures...

and even picked up a day of snowboarding at Arapahoe Basin!

I in the meantime have also tried my hand at high altitude baking...
(supposed to be banana bread muffins...morphed into weird collapsed overly chewy blobs)
ummmm...yaa.... I'll keep working on that. If you have any high altitude baking tips please send 'em this way!

Other than that guys we are definitely getting settled in our new digs! We have been so grateful for our friends and family here that have been so gracious in inviting us to dinner, checking in on us locally and helping us navigate this new city of ours and for all the awesome friends and family that have been sending on so much love and support from afar!

Thanks for joining us on this adventure!
We'll update again soon!

All my late-night love,
Hannah

We have landed!

Well after much craziness this week...we.have.landed.

Let's unpack a bit (pun intended! haha!)

Wednesday 3/30... a truck was dropped, we packed our minds out (we had left our house clean and staged until that day which left MUCH to be done) and our precious friends landed at our house and LITERALLY saved our packing lives. Ya'll - not only did Hannah wake up that morning with a serious upper respiratory infection and a fever but there was so.much.more. than we EVER thought once it all got packed and these people SERIOUSLY blessed us. This truck would have never been packed otherwise!

Thursday 3/31.. Oh man there were tears guys. Hannah's last day at work, still sick so she only got to stay for like 3 hours, saying goodbye to friends and coworkers, cleaning up the house and the truck officially got on the road to Denver. We also had to get the house cleaned up and ready to start showing again starting on Friday.

Friday 4/1... Clean the house, get rid of all the trash, officially lock the house down and say goodbye to our first home together. More tears, more hugs, we packed the cars up, headed to Hannah's mom's house in The Woodlands and Alex's mom, brother and sister-in-law got into town. By this point we were all.the.tireds. High point though is we ACCEPTED AN OFFER ON OUR HOUSE! We feel so blessed that our house was able to get under contract before we officially moved (it was a major prayer answered!) so big prayers are appreciated as we move towards closing (tentatively 6/3!).

Saturday 4/2...the move is official and Alex and his brother hit the road to get the cars to Colorado!

That afternoon Hannah's precious sister, mom, aunts, cousin and longtime best friends all came together and threw us a beautiful baby shower at Ouisie's Table. It was beautiful, perfect and lovely and I could not be more grateful for these amazing women in my life, their generosity and the opportunity to put a hug around each of them before we officially hit the road. The love from everyone there was so evident and I am so thankful I got to have this moment before we left Houston.

Sunday 4/2... The boys continued on the open road...
(first white caps!)

(tandem at it's best...except on a bike)

(Alex is VERY excited to be getting to the mountains!)

and made it to Denver!

They picked up the keys to the apartment and set up what we affectionately are calling "Camp Fleming" in our living room.

Needless to say when Hannah would arrive the next day - "Camp Fleming" moved to the Doubletree Hotel down the street.

Hannah also said bye to her family and got ready to fly out SUPER early the next morning with her sister to officially kick off this Denver party!

Monday 4/3...3:30am came REALLY early and Hannah and her sister headed out to the airport to catch a 5:30 flight to Denver. Easy flight up was followed by much needed caffeine once they landed and an early morning Uber got them to "Camp Fleming"

The truck wasn't going to get delivered until Tuesday so while Alex and Tyler hung out...Hannah and Emily did what they naturally do when given an afternoon in a new city with nothing major on the docket... responsibly find tasks that are helpful and set things up for an easier tomorrow hit up the closest super target, go shopping and find a killer local taco joint.
Ya'll this girl...seriously saved my sanity this week. Love my sweet sister and so thankful for her.
We also were awake for ALMOST 24 hours this day. Delirious doesn't even begin to describe...

Tuesday 4/4... Hannah took Emily back to the airport so she could get back to her sweet family. It really started to settle in that this was real. This wasn't just vacation with all our stuff. The truck also arrived later that morning and the unpack commenced! Thankfully Alex's brother, Tyler, was here to help and our hired mover guys were super speedy and got everything unpacked into our apartment in less than an hour! It was crazy!

There's a bike in the sink...naturally #movingwithacyclist

Hannah was clearly very helpful in this whole move

Ya'll...moving a 2400 square foot house across the country and into a 1000 square foot apartment is...in short...hilarious. We brought less than half of our furniture and purged a ton before we left and this apartment is PACKED.OUT. It totally feels like a dorm room. It's a very nice apartment though and the neighborhood is lovely! We are definitely viewing this as just our landing spot and will hopefully be on a house hunt once our Houston house closes. Needless to say we are unpacking as little as necessary so the bachelor pad dorm room feel is very likely to persist... whatever :-) More room for responsible adult activities sleeping bag fights.

Wednesday 4/5... We decided moving needed to take a break and Tyler was leaving later that evening so we chose to have a fun day instead! It was a GORGEOUS day so instead of unpacking we went out to Red Rocks and hiked around followed by a delish lunch at Wynkoop Brew Co. Later we had to say "see you later" to Tyler and we were officially on our own! We could NOT be more grateful for all of the help and time Tyler spent to make sure we got settled here! Thank you T!! You're the best!

Thursday 4/6... So today marks our official first full day as real deal on-our-own Denver-ites! It's another beautiful bluebird day. We are going to keep unpacking, maybe head out to the bike shop, Hannah is on a mission to find a new yoga studio and we are meeting up with some friends for dinner so all is good!

So that's it for now! We made it!
Wish us luck!

Let's adventure...

All our love and thanks,
Hannah and Alex
